About
American Indian Heritage Day honors Montana's American Indians and their culture and heritage. The state legislature first designated the fourth Friday of September in 1997 for schools to hold appropriate exercises, then in 2009 established the last Friday of September as a statewide day for all Montanans to reflect on and celebrate American Indian culture and heritage.
