Eid al-Adha, the "festival of sacrifice," is one of the two major Islamic festivals. Falling at the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, it honors Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son and is marked by communal prayers, the sacrifice of an animal, and sharing meat with family and those in need.
