About
Maghi is a Sikh festival marking the martyrdom of the Chali Mukte (the "Forty Liberated Ones"), Sikhs who died in 1705 at the Battle of Muktsar defending Guru Gobind Singh. It falls on the first day of the month of Magh and coincides with the solar festival of Makar Sankranti.
