On June 16, 1606, Mughal Emperor Jahangir ordered the torture and execution of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, for refusing to cease his teachings. Enduring five days of brutal torture, he ultimately entered a river, where he disappeared, never to be seen again.
