Michigan Indian Day is observed on the fourth Friday of September to recognize and honor the cultures and contributions of Native Americans in Michigan. It was established in 1974 when the state legislature passed Public Act 30, giving Michigan citizens an opportunity to better understand the many contributions of people of Native American descent.
