Native American Day is observed in New Jersey on the fourth Friday of September to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Native Americans. Established by the Legislature in 1996, it holds special meaning in New Jersey as the homeland of the Lenape people, whose legacy continues through the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape and other Lenape descendants.
